Close your eyes. Do not listen to what you hear. Someone passed by. You can feel the air moving. Breathe in. Breathe out. You are moving the air. I can feel you.

“These our
actors,
As I foretold
you,
were all spirits,
and
Are melted into
air,
into thin air.”
Shakespeare: The Tempest As a frequent commuter, LOK often has to wait for his train to arrive at the station. Sitting with his eyes closed, his ears plugged (cf. WYSIWYG) by his headphones, listening to music, he thought he could elope from the present. Nonetheless, he observed that his body remains conscious of others as they pass by. Each body pushed air in front of and pulled air after itself. They kept moving the air and he perceived their presence in spite of his wilful blindness and deafness to his surroundings. This experience nourished the creation of the sensory sculpture, Passage, a relief of air in the shape of a human figure. In exposition settings, the piece is intended to be integrated into a wall, with little lighting on it, so that the emphasis falls on the relief instead of the piece. Multiple pieces can be installed to recreate the original sensation of passers-by.
