We are pleased to announce the exposition "Spectateur" at ESBAMMM, Montpellier opening at 6pm, 21 November 2017. The crew of curators includes LOK, who worked hard to add a personal touch to the expo by including QVE's fields of research.
The exposition comprises of 5 videos created by students of the University of Fine Arts, Montpellier (ESBAMMM).
The exposition space was conceived by its curators to recreate a movie theater, with original cinema seats and blackened walls. With a twist though, as instead of a canvas, the films are projected on a large window with a view on the street. Thus, the audience becomes part of each short film shown, from the point of view of the rest of the visitors, watching the movies and the spectators from "behind the screen".
Spectateur is also a reconstitution of the moviegoers' point of view: their queuing, their seated position (elbows touching), evoking the atmosphere of cinemas (fading lights, taste and smell of popcorn, even the way they exit the room). The artists exposing their videos were selected based on their capacity to interact with the spectators through their works of art.
The exposition Spectateur can be visited free of charge from 21 to 24 November 2017 with screenings every evening from 6 pm at ESBAMMM.
